WE ARE LOOKING FOR A POST-DOC!!! High-field nonlinear optics research group at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, invites applications for a postdoctoral position available immediately for a theoretical research in these areas: (1) physics of attosecond (10^-16 -- 10^-18 s) down to zepto-second (10^-21 s) EM-pulses (2) nonlinear relativistic waves in laser-excited plasma (3) physics of relativistic electron bunches in high-intensity laser fields (4) X-ray and gamma transition radiation in solid-state nano-structures (5) Most recent research on the physics of nano-scale, sub-wavelength ripple formation on the solid-state surfaces under strong femto-second laser pulse irradiation For more information about our group research, see http://psi.ece.jhu.edu/~kaplan . Starting date: as soon as possible. A Ph.D. in physics, optics, electrical engineering, or a related field is required. The ideal candidate will have working experience with electrodynamics and/or quantum mechanics of relativistic systems, as well computer skills (Fortran is required; experience with UNIX is a plus; sysadmin experience is a great plus) and be proficient in English. The experience with nonlinear optics and related physics (especially "extreme" NLO) is also a great plus. Please mail a CV, list of publications, and list of references to Prof. Alex Kaplan (if using e-mail, send only "text" or PDF files). Prof. Alexander E.
